Big win for wildlife - Skiddaw Forest was purchased in 2024 with a grant from Aviva and huge public support to create England’s highest nature reserve. We plan to plant an ambitious 600,000 trees over the next few years to Establish Atlantic rainforest. We need funds to fulfil this dream.

Britain’s wildlife is severely under threat, with only around 6.5% of our land effectively protected for nature. If we don’t act now to reverse nature’s decline, the consequences are dire: more species of flora and fauna will become extinct. We have already lost 19% since the 1970s and we risk losing the last remaining wild spaces left in Britain. Without protecting more areas for nature right now, we risk accelerating climate change and losing hundreds more species and wild spaces for good.
As part of our most significant land purchase to date – Skiddaw Forest – we commit to plant 600,000 trees over 620 acres to create a rich, biodiverse habitat to help attract nature back. We adopt nature-based solutions to tackle the climate crisis we find ourselves in. We are confident that prioritising land to protect, connect and restore nature and allow it to thrive, is one of the best ways to help solve some of the current problems linked with nature’s decline.
